Too many lives

Dear Editor,

Attorney Nigel Hughes and several other speakers at a recent monument-dedication ceremony at Middle Walk, Buxton, lamented that too many monuments were being dedicated in Guyana to memorialize the dead; I agree with those speakers.

Opposition leader, David Granger added two promises, that Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee “will have time to go,“ and there is going to be an enquiry into each and every death.

Editor, both declarations are hinged to each other, because a young nation like Guyana with a relatively small population cannot afford to lose additional lives under suspicious circumstances, or have the police kill innocent persons who are exercising their democratic rights, in order to indulge in peaceful protests.

I am certainly going to be in touch with the opposition leader, in order to ensure that his promises are fulfilled.

Yours faithfully,
Morris Wilson
