CPCE lecturer picked for Faculty Leadership programme in Canada

Home Economics lecturer at the Cyril Potter College of Education (CPCE) for the past three years, Lyndanie Brandon, will be attending a two-week exchange with the College of New Caledonia in British Colombia, Canada,  where she will focus on technical and vocational skills development, among other areas.

On Monday, High Com-missioner to Canada David Devine met with Brandon, who is the first Faculty Leadership Pilot Programme selectee, at his office on High and Young streets, the High Commission of Canada said in a press release.

The programme provides professional development opportunities to Caribbean-based academic faculty members and international liaison officers to upgrade their knowledge and skills at the graduate level at Canadian universities.

The goal of the programme is to support international collaboration and mobilization of faculty members and staff between Canadian post-secondary institutions and those in the Caribbean.

High Commissioner Devine congratulated Brandon on being selected to participate in the programme and encouraged her to take full advantage of the opportunity, so that she can share her experiences with her colleagues and students upon her return to Guyana.

Brandon was accompanied by acting Principal of Cyril Potter College of Education, Deborah Thomas and Vice-Principal (Administration) Viola Rowe to the meeting with the high commissioner.

Thomas noted that Canada has a lot to share with Guyana, especially in the field of distance education, and she was happy with the partnership that has begun and hopes that it continues to grow.
