Upper Corentyne Chamber disgusted at blackouts

The Upper Corentyne Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UCCCI) yesterday voiced  “deep dissatisfaction” with the ongoing spate of blackouts compliments of the Guyana Power and Light.

In a statement yesterday, the UCCI said that these blackouts not only hinder the private sector in generating income and jobs but “more importantly affect every single household in enjoying a much deserved better standard of living.”

The UCCI said that it believes that with the amount of funds being invested into the power company, the level of service must be of a much higher quality.

“In the same way that the private sector would be run out of business for providing sloppy service that does not fully serve the needs of its clientele, we urge GPL to cater more closely to the needs of its paying customers”, the Chamber added.
