UG Law Dep’t refurbished

The University of Guyana Law Society and corporate sponsors came together to refurbish the Law Department, in order to provide a comfortable learning environment for students in the new academic year.

The handing over of the refurbished classrooms took place on Wednesday in the Law Department at the University of Guyana’s Turkeyen Campus.

The project, which was initiated by the Law Society and supported by corporate sponsors, saw the classrooms being repainted, and the addition of bins and new curtains. The installation of fans will be done at a later date.

Speaking at the simple ceremony was Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-Principal of the University Dr Marlene Cox, who noted that the project was a good indication of students’ efforts at assisting to improve the appearance of the university. She also noted that while the university is going through some industrial actions, students of the Law Society were working towards what they wanted.

Other buildings on the campus were also repainted for the new academic year, which will commence on Monday.
