BCB honours six coaches

Six coaches – Michael Hyles-Franco, Renwick Batson, Delbert Hicks, Winston Smith, Julian Moore and Adrian Amsterdam – were last weekend honored in the annual Tribute to Coaches Programme held by the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) at the board’s office, Cheddi Jagan Street, New Amsterdam.

Described as outstanding, dedicated and hard working, the coaches were commended by BCB Chairman, Hilbert Foster for the support and commitment they have given towards the development of cricket talent in Berbice, a BCB press release stated.

Sponsored by Ricks and Sari, the programe saw each coach receiving a Ricks & Sari Agro Hamper along with several other gifts from the BCB.

Foster, in his speech, named a number of junior cricketers who benefited from the coaches’ input in a number of coaching programmes held by the BCB, including junior elite coaching sessions, Cricket Academy, Guyoil/Castrol Coaching Programmes and numerous cricketing clinics.

President of the BCB, Keith Foster, and the board’s treasurer, Anil Beharry, were also on hand extolling the virtues of the coaches for their involvement in ensuring the further development of the sport in the county.
Keith Foster noted that in the modern sporting area, natural talent was not enough for success and as such the BCB over the last six years has organised numerous cricket development programmes to make sure that every talent in the county is properly harness and prepared, the press release said

Batson, speaking on behalf of the  coaches,  conveyed their gratitude to the BCB for recognising their efforts, noting how such tributes work to encourage the coaches to ply even more persistently in their pledge to support the BCB cricket development programmes and to identifying and nurturing new cricketing talents.
