It is time the police recognized they no longer have impunity

Dear Editor,

Following the killing of Shaquille Grant and the wounding of the other young man, I am amazed at the delay being employed by the police to avoid bringing charges against all the ranks who took part in this assault.

Editor, we hear that the ranks taking part in the “raid” have refused to be placed on an ID parade.  Editor there is no need for an ID parade since the police already know who the ranks are and have removed them from active duty.

Additionally the ballistic evidence will show whose guns fired the fatal shots.
Secondly, to attempt to place blame on one or two individuals out of the group is equally deceptive.

Archibold Criminal Pleading, Evidence and Practice – 38th Edition at paragraph 1425 states that the term “Accomplice” includes (1) Persons who are participles criminis in respect of the actual crime, or persons procuring or aiding and abetting.

Editor, it is high time for the police to know that they no longer have impunity whether stated or implied.

Yours faithfully,
