Two on assault charges after beers and swears

Alcohol and a few swear words landed two men before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday on charges that they assaulted each other.

It was alleged that on October 15, poultry farmer Radford Harris, 36, of Lot 129 Carmichael Street, and Rawle Trotman, 36, of Lot 89 Carmichael Street, unlawfully and maliciously assaulted each other, causing actual bodily harm.

According to Prosecutor Winneth Hubbard, the incident occurred around 8:30pm, while the men were consuming alcohol.

Trotman allegedly started to use indecent language and Harris rebuked him, leading to the fight.

Hubbard then said that Trotman reported the matter to the Alberttown Police Station, where the two were charged.

The prosecution had no objections to bail and the magistrate placed the men on a bond to keep the peace pending the determination of the matter before releasing each on his own recognisance.

The matter was transferred to Court 10 for November 5.
