QC, Annandale advance to second round of GBTI impromptu speech contest

Queen’s College (QC) and Annandale Secondary School are the second and third schools to progress to the second round of the GBTI Impromptu Speech Competition.

On Thursday, QC scored 780 points in its match against President’s College, which scored 634 points, a press release said. QC’s Nathifa Williams was named the Best Speaker based on her presentation on the topic ‘Someone who has inspired me very much in life is….’

On Wednesday, Annandale Secondary gained 577 points in its match against the Richard Ishmael Secondary School which scored 495 points. Annandale’s Allison Thomas was named Best Speaker based on her presentation on the topic ‘Free Education should be provided at the university.’

On both days the panel of judges had similar comments about the presentations. The judges said that the presentations could have been a bit more detailed and that students should generate more points in their presentations. They urged the participants that moved on to the next round to think carefully about their topics before presenting.
