No stone shortage

-BK Int’l

There is no shortage of stone of any kind in Guyana, according to BK International, which says it is in a position to provide any quantity of stone required for construction.

The company’s announcement came in a statement in response to a news report that quoted Local Government Ministry Permanent Secretary Collin Croal as saying that a shortage ofcrusher stone in the country is affecting ongoing community road projects being carried out by a number of Neighbourhood Democratic Councils.

BK said the statement is not accurate while saying that it could meet demand for any quantity of stone required for construction. It, however, added that it is not prepared to extend credit to any contractors who are unable to pay on time or are in the habit of making payments over extended periods, or, in a number of cases, not at all.

BK noted that it has recently completely refurbished its quarry plant, increasing its capacity from 350,000 to 550,000 tonnes per year. It added that BK Quarries can currently provide 25 tonnes of crusher stone and 10,000 tonnes of other aggregate per month.
