Clico policyholders: Don’t allow Duprey to return

(Trinidad Guardian) Chairman of the Clico Policyholders Group (CPG) Peter Permell says former CL Financial chairman Lawrence Duprey should not be allowed to return to the company. In a statement, Permell said: “We (CPG) are persuaded that he (Duprey) cannot just be allowed to return to CL Financial helm and we all pretend as if nothing has happened.

“The truth be told no matter how you spin it, a grave injustice has been perpetrated against thousands of innocent, unsuspecting policyholders and the taxpayers of T&T and as such it cannot be business as usual,” he said. Permell said there is need for accountability.

“The former CLF chairman and others have to be called to account and the justice system must be allowed to take its course,” he said. Permell said the issue for the CPG is “ensuring that the State gets back every cent of taxpayers’ money advanced for the TT$20 billion bailout and assisting in any way possible to bring all those responsible to justice.”
