Advisories about dress and behaviour should be publicised before not during National Cultural Centre shows

Dear Editor,

I tend to support Mr Raschid Osman in his observation, “The how to behave advisory at the NCC is terribly annoying“ (Sunday Chronicle, December 2).

For those readers who have not read the article Mr Osman is saying that there was an announcement, before the National Anthem, about the lengthy dress code at the NCC. He further states that during the performance, which I take to be the intermission, another loud advisory was issued about behaviour expected of patrons attending shows at the NCC.

Mr Osman correctly suggests that these advisories should have been issued when the advertisement of activities at the NCC is placed on radio and television. I would like to further suggest that the authorities concerned print a shortened version on the often blank reverse side of the entrance ticket.

An inspection inside the box office of the NCC revealed no such notices; however, four prominent notices about the dress code only were pasted on the entrance doors. It boggles my mind that those patrons who qualified to enter the NCC should be subjected to these advisories. It is tantamount to the pastor/priest who berates the attending congregation for non-attendance.
The NCC, advertisers/promoters should get their act together before the shows.

Yours faithfully,
Roger A Bhulai
