Goldsmith on bail over assault, offensive weapon charges

Winston Munroe, a goldsmith, was released on bail after denying three charges yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ court.

Munroe, 37, of Lot 57 James and Barr streets, Albouystown, pleaded not guilty to charges of assaulting and threatening a woman and of carrying an offensive weapon.

It was alleged that on December 6, Munroe unlawfully assaulted Abiola Garraway and later that day behaved in a threatening manner towards her. It was also alleged that he was found by a policeman carrying an ice-pick without reason.

No further particulars of the charges were given to Magistrate Leron Daly, who set bail at $55,000. The cases were subsequently adjourned to January 11, when they will be called at Court 10.
