Woman accused of attempting passport fraud on $100,000 bail

Saveeta Rampersaud was yesterday placed on $100,000 bail by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, after she was charged with intending to commit passport fraud.

Police Prosecutor Jairam Lukhai alleged that sometime between the December 23, 2011 and January 25, 2012, Rampersaud conspired with persons unknown to the court to commit forgery on a passport.

Rampersaud was represented by attorney Kamini Parag-Singh, who noted that the woman was a single parent and that the charge was her first.

Bail was granted and the return court date was fixed for April 13.
