Ganja trafficking accused remanded

Devon Anderson who appeared yesterday in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on a charge of possession of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking was refused bail by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

According to the prosecution, on Monday at Lot 31 Murphy Street, Good Intent, West Bank Demerara, Anderson had in his possession a narcotic, that is to say 896 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.

Anderson pleaded not guilty to the charge and the prosecution objected  to bail on the grounds of the nature of the crime. The defendant was remanded and the case was transferred to the Wales Magistrates’ Court for March 23.
