Linden Town Week gets support from BOSAI, Republic Bank

BOSAI, the Chinese-owned bauxite company in Linden, presented the LTW committee with $1 million to assist in offsetting expenses for this year’s event.

Interim Management Committee (IMC) Chairman and key player in the LTW committee Orin Gordon received a cheque from BOSAI’s General Manager George Zhao, at a simple ceremony recently.

In expressing his gratitude, Gordon noted that the company has been contributing to the annual event since taking over the bauxite operations in Linden.

“BOSAI has always demonstrated that they are good corporate citizens and have been supporting the Town Week activities,” said Gordon.

He observed, however, that this was the first time that the company was making such a sizable contribution, and said it was an indication that BOSAI is keeping a promise to do more for the town.

Meanwhile, Republic Bank recently committed a sizable sum towards a series of educational workshops to be held by the Linden Fund USA (LFU) during LTW.

In addition, the bank is running a promotion, valued in excess of $500,000, at its Linden Branch.

According to Branch Manager Randolph Sear, the bank got on board because of its commitment to the development of education, amidst the fun and frolic during the week-long celebrations.

The LFU will be conducting its annual education workshops for teachers, parents, administrators, and community leaders, among others, and this will be facilitated by a team of education experts from the USA led by Dr. Walter Kyte, former New York City District Superintendent and a college professor.

Republic Bank launched their Linden Town Week promotion for customers in March and it will conclude on May 4.

The competition will give customers a chance to win a notebook PC as the first prize, a BlackBerry Torch cell phone (second prize) and a digital camera (third prize) as well as makeovers valued $30,000.

Additionally, LFU will be collaborating with Digicel for the staging of its annual spelling Bee competition.
