Gunmen take over $7M in McDoom heist

Two armed bandits yesterday stole over $7M after they held up accounts clerks of the Farm Supply and General Equipment Limited company who were  transporting the money to a bank.

Police said that the robbery occurred at 10:45am, when a horse cart blocked the vehicle in which the clerks had been travelling along the McDoom Access Road, on the East Bank Demerara.

It was noted that two men, armed with handguns, approached and held the two accounts clerks at gunpoint and relieved them of the bag containing $7.1M. The men then escaped on foot.

When Stabroek News visited the Mc Doom business location, a representative said that the company will be unable to comment on the incident as it is believed that this could affect the police investigation.

However, a source attached to the entity told this newspaper that it was a $7.5M loss. The source further noted that neither of the clerks was harmed during the robbery.
