Woman assaulted man over lack of child support

A hair technician was yesterday fined for assaulting the father of her children after a row over child support.

Natasha Pierre, 22, pleaded guilty to the assault of Joseph Anthony when she appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at Georgetown Magistrates’ Court. She also admitted to behaving in a disorderly manner at the Brickdam Police Station.

The court was told that offences were committed between December 25 and December 26, Natasha Pierre 22.

Pierre, the prosecutor said, accused Anthony of not supporting their children financially and picked up a stick and hit him with it. As a result, Anthony told Pierre that he was going to Brickdam Police Station to report her, and while he was on his way she threw stones at him. She later behaved in a disorderly manner at the station.

“It was Christmas, right? He come at ma parent’s house, right? He and me deh fa eight year, he not even buy a ice cream fa de big one. He go out with friends and drink up and come house, he ask me ‘wat happen?’ So I cuss he,” Pierre told the court yesterday.
She pleaded guilty to the charges and was fined $10,000 and ordered to attend counselling at Help and Shelter.
