Affiance Storm, All Star Conquerors advance in T10 softball

The preparatory T10 competition resumed recently with several matches in the men’s open in the over-35 category where competitors are vying for the $100,000 prize.

One hundred and thirty-nine teams had signed up to compete in the various categories aimed at revitalising softball cricket but the games had been halted to facilitate the GT&T 10/10 Tournament. In addition to the said sum the winners in the men’s open will also receive a trophy while the runners-up will take home $40,000 and a trophy. The man-of-the match will clinch a $10,000 award and a trophy.

Only Georgetown competed in the men’s open and the matches were completed on Friday at the CPCE ground. Trophy Stall XI battled Herstelling Raiders and the winner came up against Regal XI. Better Hope XI played Young Guns at 1.30 pm, then took on Marshon XI after which they battled Chavic XI. The East Bank Masters then battled Chavic XI and Dundee XI who played against Farmers XI. Dundee XI then tackled the Mahaica Sports Club XI.

The qualifiers in the men’s quarter-finals are Affiance Storm (Essequibo), Invaders XI (West Coast Demerara), South Star XI (Linden), Zalata XI (Lower East Coast Demerara), Memorex XI (East Berbice), Helena numbers 1 and 2 SC (Upper East Coast) and D’ Edward SC (West Berbice).

In the women’s category, All Star Conquerors (Linden), Rising Stars XI (West Coast Demerara), Mahaica Queens (Upper East Coast) and Fazal Kayume Females (Lower East Coast Demerara) qualified in the semi-finals. The winners will receive a $50,000 prize and a trophy and the man-of-the-match will receive a $10,000 award and a trophy.

The prizes for the male open winner are one hundred thousand dollars and a trophy while the runner up will be taking home forty thousand dollars and a trophy. The man of the match will receive ten thousand dollars and a trophy

Also, the over-35 winners will take home $75,000 and the runners-up $35,000. In the finals the man-of-the-match will receive $5,000 and a trophy.
