Massive turn out expected for tomorrow’s Day of Interaction

One of the largest ever  Day 0of Interaction is expected to take place tomorrow when the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCY&S)/National Sports Commission in collaboration with the Region Six Regional Democratic Council stages the event tomorrow at the Port Mourant Community Centre ground.

According to a press release, approximately 1000 athletes and officials from across the region will participate in softball cricket, football, table tennis, volleyball, dominoes, circle tennis, chess, draughts, track and field, cycling, basketball, boxing and karate.

The day’s activities will commence with a march past of the athletes and officials followed by brief remarks from  Regional Chairman Permaul Armogan, Director of Sports Neil Kumar and Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dr. Frank Anthony.

Special prizes will be presented to the largest contingent, best banner and the best uniformed group.

To complement the programme, there will be an information corner which will include inputs from the Ministry of Health, the Youth Department (Achievement Booth) and from other Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).

According to the release, the Day of Interaction is expected to be alcoholic free and persons. There will be no selling or consumption of alcohol beverages during the sporting activities, in or around the venue, the organizers stated.

Trophies will be awarded to the winners and runners-up while sports gear will be presented to individuals, clubs, schools and various communities.
