National Cycling Coach, Hassan Mohamed MS has team up with Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) under its Diamond Mineral Water brand to pedal off the 13th annual 50-mile cycle road race today on the West Bank of Demerara.
According to a press release,the race will commence from Wales Police Station at 09.00hrs, proceed to Bushy Park on the East Bank of Essequibo before returning to the Demerara Harbour Bridge for the finish.
The veteran, mountain bike and females will turn back at Uitvlugt Community Centre and finish at the Harbour Bridge.
The first six senior finishers, three juniors, three veterans, three mountain bikers will receive prizes while the first two females and the first veteran over 60 years will receive prizes. There will also be eight prime prizes up for grabs.
This event will be the last for the year 2012 sponsored by Demerara Distillers Limited under the brand name Diamond Mineral Water.
Representatives will be on hand to distribute the prizes to the respective winners.
Last year’s senior winner was Robin Persaud in two hours, 10 minutes and eight seconds.
