Minibus conductor charged with assault

A minibus conductor accused of assaulting another was yesterday released on $20,000 bail when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

It is alleged that on February 12, at Plaza Bridge, South Ruimveldt, George-town, Orlando Dickie, 35, unlawfully assaulted Rodwell Williams so as to cause him actual bodily harm.

Dickie, who resides at Lot 199 Lodge Housing Scheme, pleaded not guilty when the assault charge was read to him by Magistrate Sueanna Lovell.

No facts of what occurred on the day in question were related in court. When asked if there were any objections to the defendant being granted his pre-trial liberty, the prosecution responded in the negative.

The matter will continue on March 8.
