Soldier in court over disorderly behaviour

A 21-year-old soldier accused of behaving disorderly to a police officer was yesterday released on $10,000 bail when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The allegation against Denzil Norville is that on February 9, at Sussex Street, Charlestown, he behaved in a disorderly manner to Police Corporal Pamela Harding.

Norville pleaded not guilty to the charge of disorderly behaviour when it was read to him by Magistrate Sueanna Lovell.

No facts of what occurred on the day in question were related in court.

The prosecution objected to the accused being granted bail, stating that he gave the court a different address than that which he had given the police.

When given a chance to speak, Norville said he lives “over the river” at Parfait Harmonie but does not know the address of his residence.

After listening to both sides, the magistrate granted the defendant bail in the sum of $10,000.
The matter will continue on March 8.
