Verdict looms for accused in ‘Lil Mark’ murder

Dexter Marshall, on trial for gunning down Mark Caesar, called ‘Lil Mark,’ is expected to learn his fate on Monday.

The prosecution and the defence made closing arguments before Justice Roxane George in the High Court yesterday and the judge is to sum up the evidence in the trial on Monday before handing it over to the jury for deliberation.

Caesar died while receiving treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he sustained several gunshot wounds about the body in a 2010 attack in Charlestown.

During the trial, Caesar’s brother, Robin Jeffers, had identified the shooters as Marshall, who is called ‘Deckie,’ and a “skinny rasta man.”
“I do not know anything about this crime. Nobody calls me Deckie,” Marshall, however, said, in an unsworn statement to the court.
Marshall also told the court that he did not know Jeffers and was never associated with him.
