Digicel launches Hybrid Plan

Digicel has launched its Hybrid Plan, a combination of post-paid and pre-paid plans, aimed at giving customers the best of both worlds.

According to a press release, Digicel customers can choose from five Hybrid Plans offering bundled minutes and SMS. The lowest priced plan – the Hybrid 75 – costs $1,600 and allots users 75 bundled minutes and 75 bundled SMS. At the other end is the Hybrid 1000 plan which costs $12,000 and offers users 1,000 bundled minutes and 100 bundled SMS. The bundled calls and text are applicable to both local networks.

According to the press release, Digicel’s Head of Marketing, Jacqueline James, said: “Digicel is always seeking innovative ways of ensuring customers are provided with convenient and gratifying services. With the Hybrid Plan, customers will be better able to manage their mobile accounts.

“Customers who are active will be allotted a specific amount of minutes and text messages at a fixed monthly cost. It the customer exceeds the allotted amount, the account will automatically switch to pre-paid,” she said.

Customers wanting to use any Hybrid plan can visit any Digicel store with valid ID, proof of address and their deposit to sign up.

The new plan is already being used effectively by a number of companies across the country. In these instances, the companies pay a fixed postpaid amount for their employees and once this is exhausted, the employees top up as normal for their personal use. This entails savings for the companies rather than them giving their employees a stipend to top up, the release said.
