Man gets four years jail for armed robbery

Kirk Williams was on Friday sentenced to a total of 50 months imprisonment after he was found guilty of two counts of armed robbery.

Magistrate Judy Latchman handed down the sentence at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, where Williams was on trial.

The prosecution’s case was that on May 29, 2012, at Church Street, Williams robbed Adrian McKenzie of $200,000 in cash. The money was the property of Clifton Bacchus, the proprietor of the Sleepin Hotel on Church Street.

Williams was also charged with robbing McKenzie of a BlackBerry cellular phone, valued $60,000.
