Assault case dismissed after wife refuses to give evidence

A man was yesterday freed of an assault charge, after his wife refused to give evidence against him.

It was alleged that on March 6, at Third Street, Alberttown, Michael Burnette, 24, unlawfully assaulted Shevone Burnette.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Michael’s attorney Paul Fung-a-Fat informed the court that Shevone Burnette did not wish to give evidence against her husband.
The matter was dismissed by Magistrate Leron Daly.
