Pope Francis following in footsteps of John Paul 1

Dear Editor,
Please permit me to point out that the newly elected Pope Francis was not the first to align his approach to his duties with the teaching and life of Jesus Christ and to appear to be doing so. In his humility and rejection of the pomp associated with the office, Francis is continuing the work started by John Paul 1 who only lasted 33 days in office.

It is reported that there were those in the Vatican who despised him for his simplicity and his departure from the tradition-bound style of the previous popes among other things. The Vatican was to be engulfed later in a scandal involving the Vatican Bank including the suicide of a cardinal on a major bridge in New York and also involving a runaway Masonic lodge known as P2. This is information that was fully in the public domain.

David Yallop in his book ‘In God’s Name’ takes it further and claimed that he was murdered and that he was given a list of those  cardinals in the Vatican who also belonged to the masonic order and was about to take action against them as it was prohibited for Roman Catholics to be masons. According to Yallop the list read like ‘a who’s who at the Vatican’.

This time it is also reported that Pope Francis has another list of a different kind for a shake- up of the Vatican. However, it appears that long colonisation and domination of the Vicarate of Christ by statecraft rather than the principles of Christ are taking a beating for now.
May he last more than 33 years.
Yours faithfully,
Frederick W.A. Collins
