Accused in tyre theft caught red-handed

Trycel Barker was yesterday remanded to prison after a court heard that he was caught stealing tyres and rims by police.

Barker, 32, was charged with stealing 11 car tyres and a quantity of mag rims from Jiffy Lube, when he appeared before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The stolen goods were valued at $330,000.

Police Sergeant Alexis David-Hosannah stated that the police were on duty in the Alberttown area on Sunday, when they saw Barker removing the tyres from the business place, which is located at North Road.

The police later arrested Barker, who yesterday denied the allegations brought against him. Despite his not guilty plea, he was remanded and the case was adjourned until April 3.
