Man held after Tuschen cyclist found dead

A man is in police custody following the death of a pedal cyclist on the Tuschen Public Road, East Bank Essequibo.
Police yesterday gave the dead man’s name as Ramnarine, 64, of Tuschen Housing Scheme.

In a press release, the police said that around 10am on Thursday the man’s body was found on the roadway with his bicycle nearby.

A post mortem examination was performed on the body yesterday by government pathologist Dr. Vivekanand Brijmohan and the cause of death was given as “fractured skull and haemorrhage due to a motor vehicle accident.”
It is unclear how the man in custody was held but police said he is assisting with the investigations.
