Josiah-Tanner suffers first defeat of season

Overseas-based distance athlete, Euleen Josiah-Tanner suffered her first defeat for the season on Saturday last when she was beaten by Nancy Meck at the Running Nerds 5K event held in West Midtown, Atlanta, Georgia.

The 5K which was held as a tribute to the victims of the recent Boston Marathon bombings.

Meck, 49, recorded 18:41 seconds to finish ahead of Josiah-Tanner who finished second in 18:52 seconds.

Meck, running at 06:04/M pace was the overall female winner of the competition which had over 740 participants.

Josiah-Tanner, a mother of three children, won the female 35-38 age group ahead of Sonia Torry, Marsha Escobar and Alexia Rothman. Torry, Escobar and Rothman each registered 22:40 seconds, 25:28 seconds and 25:42 seconds respectively.

Meck and Josiah-Tanner finished third and fourth overall behind Max Randolph (17:14 seconds) and Benjamin McAdoo (18:12 seconds) who finished first and second respectively.
