A truck transporting an excavator broke the St Ignatius Bridge this morning. The bridge was rehabilitated under the region’s capital programme sometime last year. Heavy duty machinery that traverse the road heading to the south Rupununi, damaging roads and destroying bridges on their way to Marudi remains a concern for residents. Sometime ago the newly constructed Rupununi Bridge was destroyed by an excavator.
