Essequibo murder accused told cops he was sorry after fatal chopping -confession

Murder accused Rudolph Williams admitted to chopping the woman he is now charged with killing and claimed he was sorry for what he had done, according to a statement to police that was admitted into evidence at his trial yesterday.

The statement was allowed by Justice Brassington Reynolds at the Demerara Assizes yesterday after it was tendered by state prosecutors Natasha Backer and Dhanika Singh.

Williams, who is represented by state-appointed attorney George Thomas, is on trial for the murder of Naomi Singh, who he allegedly killed on May 1, 2009 in Essequibo.

Williams’ statement is the sole evidence upon which
the prosecution’s case is based on.

He was also recorded as saying that he was sorry for what happened.
The trial will continue today.
