Two hurt in Unity gas explosion still critical

Kishan Ramdat, the Unity, Mahaica fisherman and his two-year-old niece who were injured in a gas explosion on Sunday night are still in critical condition in the Burn Care Unit of the Georgetown Hospital.

Twenty-year-old Ramdat and his niece are still battling for their lives as doctors continue to monitor their conditions, relatives said yesterday. Ramdat and the child were injured following a gasoline explosion that occurred after he fell asleep with a lit cigarette near the fuel.

Ramdat was running past the child in attempt to escape the fire when the flames caught her.
