How about Amaila bonds?

It appears to me that the AFC opposes and deposes all and every motion of the government, whether these benefit the echelons and cronies of the party in power or the vast majority of the present and future generations of Guyanese.  Their refusal to differentiate between what is good for Guyana and what is distasteful of the PPP is a clear indication that their motives are vindictiveness (on the part of ex-PPPites), together with an unholy greed for power.  It is very frightening to think that they are prepared to sink the whole Titanic if they do not gain the captaincy of the ship.

I have thoroughly criticized them for their stand on the Linden and Agricola ignominies.  But this voting down of the Amaila Hydro-electric bill takes the cake. It certainly is a form of terrorism.

Surely, they could have demanded that anti-corruption measures be put in place to ensure that  Amaila does not become another Skeldon.  But no, they chose to throw away the baby as well as the bath water.  And now, may history and the future generations of Guyanese judge them.

While I have been a strong critic of the Jagdeo-influenced PPP, my love for my native land and my respect for duly elected governments now sway me to suggest to all parties truly interested in the development of Guyana  to try to harness the Niagara of financial resources of the diaspora by offering them Amaila Hydro-electric Development Bonds for sale, and also to establish a Diaspora Bank where overseas Guyanese can safely place their savings and get something more than the three-quarter percent interest they presently earn in the US. In addition, I think we should re-examine Brazil’s offer to build the hinterland highway. There is more than one way to skin a cat.

I will keep my fingers crossed, hoping they will also not vote these down in parliament. If they do, I think it will be the final nail in their coffin.

Yours faithfully,
