Former Gizmos clerk charged with iPhone theft

A former employee of Gizmos and Gadgets was yesterday granted bail when she appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate Court charged with simple larceny.

Keisha Mars, 20, of 203 Middle Road La Penitence Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to stealing one Apple iPhone valued $200,000 property of Gizmos and Gadgets. The charge was read to her by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

Police Prosecutor Vernette Pindar told the court that the accused, who was an employee of the Wellington Street business establishment for nine months, stole the phone between July 8 and 12.

Counsel Euclin Gomes, representing Mars, made a request for reasonable bail. He told the court his client has no previous convictions and does not pose a flight risk.
There was no objection to bail by the prosecution.

Bail was granted in the amount of $125,000 and the matter adjourned to September 6.
