“Mr. Mingo, with the wealth of experience and the connections that he has come with and the influence he wields, will do good for this board,” Health Minister Dr Bheri Ramsaran said, shortly after the new board was installed.

Ramsaran thanked the members of the outgoing board for the good work that they did and urged the new members to solve problems before they balloon. He further stated that the new board must not limit its obligation to the hospitals in Linden but must reach out to all medical facilities in Region Ten.

Mingo said he was thankful for the opportunity that had been afforded to him to continue to contribute to Linden and Region Ten, especially as it relates to health care delivery within the region. He added that all the members of the new board “have something to bring and hopefully we’ll see a higher delivery of health services to the people of Linden in general and Region Ten, in particular.”

He said he was looking forward to a good working relationship with all stakeholders in the region, including the private sector, the municipality, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and faith-based organisations. “I am looking forward to where those expertise and resources are available, in any one of those institutions… [and] to call upon them and we work together to ensure that the level of health care and health delivery is what we want to have in Region Ten,” he said.

The new board has a one-year term. The other members are: Jonellor Bowen, Linden Town Clerk; Maylene Stephens, Deputy REO, Region Ten; Dr. Pansy Armstrong, Region Health Officer; Dr. Farouk Riyasat, Chief Executive Officer, Lin-den Hospital Complex; Hazel Langellier, NIS, Linden; Valerie Patterson; Raymond Sankar; and Patrick Dublin.

Stating that he used his powers as Minister of Health to inaugurate the new management board of the Linden Hospital Complex, Ramsaran said the new board members met briefly with health officials from Georgetown and representatives of the Region Ten administration.

Ramsaran also pointed out that Regional Health Officers Meetings are held twice per year. The healthcare delivery for the past six months of this year was discussed at Friday’s meeting and he said a review of the entire year will be held at the yearend meeting.
