Bourne, called ‘Blackie,’ was a passenger in the front seat of the vehicle transporting him and other relatives home after a fun day at the Splashmins Resort.

Bourne’s wife and children were also among the injured. Eight persons remain in critical but stable condition yesterday.

Bourne’s relatives were very sombre as they gathered at the hospital upon learning of his passing.

Dangerous driving was what eyewitnesses said occurred prior to the Route 45 minibus (Main Street-Lamaha/GPHC) slamming into the fence of the Alpha Hotel along the East Bank Public Road on Sunday evening.

Eyewitnesses also told Stabroek News that the bus was trying to avoid a car and smashed into the back of a Route 32 (Georgetown-Parika) bus.
