Domestic worker accused of stealing gov’t laptop project computer

A domestic worker was yesterday charged with stealing a computer distributed under the government’s One Laptop Per Family (OLPF) Project.

It is alleged that on the August 24, Indira Shaw, 40, of Lot 18 Crown Dam, Industry, East Coast Demerara, allegedly broke and entered the home of Linda Connelly and stole the laptop, which is valued at $60,000.

She pleaded not guilty to the break and enter and larceny charge.

Her lawyer Gwendolyn Bristol made an application for reasonable bail and won her release on $100,000 bail.

The case was adjourned to October 11.
