Cop injured after man menaces primary school students with cutlass

At about 1245h. today, the police say they responded to a report that a man who appeared to be mentally unstable was in the Soesdyke Primary School armed with a cutlass and terrorizing students and teachers.

Upon their arrival at the scene, the armed man attacked the police with the cutlass and inflicted a wound to the left hand of Inspector Mohan Khan, police said.

The police were forced to resort to the use of force and the man was shot and injured to his left shoulder.

He has been identified as Christopher Mc Cullen of Timehri Docks.

Inspector  Khan and Mc Cullen have been taken for medical treatment at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre.
