Jamaican businessman shot in execution attempt

A Jamaican businessman is now recovering at a private city hospital after he was shot early Wednesday morning in what has appeared to be an execution attempt.

Patrick Forbes, 36, of Lance Gibbs Street, Queenstown, and the proprietor of a popular boutique, was shot five times about his body while he was standing with a group of friends.

Police in a press release, had said that Forbes was among a group of persons on Orange Walk when shots were discharged in their direction.

The release further stated that Forbes was hit to his abdomen and right thigh.

An employee of the man said that she was not aware that he was shot. “I haven’t seen or heard from him. Several of his family members called and asked if he was shot because they saw it in the newspapers but I really cannot say,” she said.
