Left Ministry of Education of own volition

Dear Editor,

On November 10, 2012 my contract with the Ministry of Education as Senior Mathematics Subject Specialist attached to NCERD ended. I did not apply for renewal of contract.

It was brought to my attention by someone that it is believed that I did not renew my contract because the Minister of Education would have fired me. In order to avoid the official refusal of renewal, some believe that I left.

I find this claim very strange. At no point did the Minister of Education or any official offer me an indication to the effect that I would be sent home. The decision to leave was solely mine. I do not consider it ethical to give reasons why in a letter to an editor.

If the Minister of Education had decided not to renew my contract and had so instructed accordingly, then I am certain that her decision would have been based on my lack of competence in the execution of my duties, and such would have been acceptable for I am principled enough to concede that I could have possibly been the worst of the employees in the Ministry of Education.

As it is, I left without being told that my contract would not be renewed.

Yours faithfully,
Krishna Nand Prasad
