Seawall mural painting to mark Universal Children’s Day

A mural painting exercise will be hosted today along the Georgetown Seawall to observe Universal Children’s Day, which was celebrated on Wednesday.

The activity, which will be conducted at 3pm between Vlissengen Road and Pere Street, is being organised by the Guyana Equality Forum (GEF) in collaboration with the interim Guyana National Youth Council, Youth Challenge Guyana, Youths For Guyana and the Guyana Girl Guides Association.

According to a release and invitation issued by the Society Against Sexual Orientation Discrimination (SASOD), Ann Greene, Director of the Child Care and Protection Agency, and Marianne Flach, UNICEF Representative to Guyana and Suriname, are expected to make remarks at the event.

The release said GEF, which is observing Universal Children’s Day under the theme “Speak out against Violence, Abuse and Discrimination of Children,” expects attendance from a wide cross-section of civil society, governmental and international partners. The general public is invited to attend and participate in the event.
