ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE,  (Reuters) – The White House today played down President Barack Obama’s handshake with Cuban leader Raul Castro at Nelson Mandela’s memorial in South Africa, saying it went no further than pleasantries and does not signal a policy change.

Guyanese march against corruption

Yesterday was named global Anti-Corruption day by the United Nationals (UN) and about 100 Guyanese, joining their counterparts around the world, turned out to march against what UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon described as a “social, political and economic disease that affects all countries.”

Dear Editor, Mr Anthony Pantlitz in the Stabroek News of November 20 under the heading ‘Dreams can come true’ and employing the words of Martin Luther King’s ‘I have a dream’ speech wrote: “I have a dream that one day Guyana will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘One People, One Nation, One Destiny,’” and then went on dreaming many other things he hopes we will one day realize.
