Man admits to hacking wife to death

Murder accused Lawrence Rambarran yesterday pleaded guilty to killing his wife Deborah Allen, who he hacked to death in 2009 after an argument.

Rambarran, who was charged with murder, pleaded guilty to the lesser offence of manslaughter before Justice James Bovell-Drakes in the High Court. He will be sentenced on August 26, after a probation report is presented to the court.

Rambarran, who is represented by attorney Peter Hugh, admitted to killing Allen, who he chopped about her body with a cutlass on February 15 at Oronoque, Port Kaituma, North West District. Allen succumbed to her injuries on arrival at the Port Kaituma Hospital.

State counsel Dhanika Singh and Natasha Backer are representing the state.
