‘Shark Oil’ on armed robbery charge

Michael ‘Shark Oil’ Gobin, a known character was on Monday refused bail when he appeared before Magistrate Rondell Weaver at the Blairmont Court charged with robbery under arms.

The court heard that around 1:30 am on October 13, Gobin of Blairmont, West Bank Berbice robbed 13-year-old Abdul Subhan at knife point.

The incident occurred at Cotton Tree Village where the child was stripped of $2,000. Gobin was remanded to prison and is scheduled to return to court on October 28 for report.
Police Prosecutor, Corporal Orin Joseph objected to bail on the grounds that Gobin who has no fixed place of abode is known to the police.

He said too that the man was recently released from prison after serving time for offences of a similar nature. The prosecutor submitted too that if released on bail Gobin is likely to flee the jurisdiction.
