Games store clerk accused of $2.6M theft

Ryan Chow, a sales clerk at Game Express, was yesterday accused of stealing $2.6 million in games from the store.

Chow, 20, was remanded to prison by Magistrate Fabayo Azore when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

According to Prosecutor Bharat Mangru, on October 26, Steve Hendricks, the store owner, made checks in the building and discovered missing stock. As a result, he reviewed security footage and allegedly saw Chow committing the theft. In addition to games, items stolen also included iPods and Nintendo DSis. Chow was said to be employed as a sales clerk at Game Express during the time.

Although Mangru told the court that Chow admitted to the theft, he pleaded not guilty to the charge when he was arraigned yesterday.

Mangru objected to bail based on the seriousness and prevalence of the crime and Magistrate Azore remanded him to prison until November 15th, when the case will be heard once more Court Five.
