I am happy to report that efforts to have a full team of swimmers from Region 1 compete at the Nationals 2013 have paid off. Twenty-two swimmers have been identified of the 26 the GTU and Ministry of Education have stipulated.
The reason put forward as to why there was no swimming championship is as ridiculous as they come. The recurring theme in all the letters written by Mr Andrew Campbell of the Regional Sports Committee is cost and geography. Just budget accordingly! The river excuse is just lame. Even the mighty Essequibo is calm at times.
In closing, I wish Region 1 all the very best for the Nationals 2013. I thank you for publishing my letters and those of Mr Campbell.
