Coaches tasked to create national developmental programme

Guyana Football Federation (GFF) President Christopher Matthias stated yesterday that the Guyana Football Coaches Association (GFCA) during recent discussions between the two entities last Thursday will be tasked with creating a national developmental programme for all clubs, coaches and associations.

Speaking to Stabroek Sport following discussions with current GFF executive body, Matthias stated:“We have attached an importance to them as we see this body as an integral part of the developmental process and as such mandated them to develop a systemic and structured national programme for all clubs, coaches and associations.”

Queried about the time frame for creating such a structured national blueprint, Matthias stated….“The deadline for the creation is May 20th.”

According to Matthias, the creation of this national manifesto will be under the guidance of Vice-President of Technical and Tactical Development Ivan Persaud and that coaches not registered with the GFCA will not be recognized by the GFF.

Tasked with guiding the development of such an initiative, Vice-President Persaud stated:“We are going in the opposite direction of a quick fix. Gone are the days of the quick fix and we are now moving in the direction of creating a systematic plan and a new way of working.

“It’s not a system that will be cast in stone but a structure that can be modified accordingly if necessary and will be analyzed periodically,” he added.

GFCA President and Alpha United Tactician Wayne “Wiggy” Dover also shared his sentiments regarding the development of such a national venture.

“The GFCA is an integral of the development of the sport in Guyana as the burden of development wrests heavily on the shoulders of coaches. Our intention is to develop a good plan with regards to technical and tactical development standpoint and a plan that is all inclusive so that all stakeholders can have a say. That is the way we intend to work from now on,” said Dover.
