GTI edges Charlestown secondary as YBG opens

Georgetown Technical Institute (GTI) powered by a Lassar Richard 15-point effort edged Charlestown Secondary 34-32 as the Youth Basketball Guyana’s (YBG) National School Basketball Festival (NSBF) Georgetown Conference commenced with two fixtures at the Marian Academy Court Carifesta Avenue yesterday.

Utilizing his lanky frame to dominate the paint, Richard’s received capable support from teammate Dwight Gray who contributed 10 points to the winning effort. Amoniki John and Murtland Ward led the Charlestown charge with ten points each.

In the earlier U-17 encounter, hosts Marian Academy led by a Christopher Joao double –double of twelve points and fifteen rebounds defeated St. Roses High 33-17. Judah Stephney netted ten points for the victorious Carifesta Avenue outfit.

Leading the line losing Church Street unit was Nathan Howell who scored eight points while Shamaar Huntley added four points in a losing effort.
