Bermine, Port Mourant win

Bermine thrashed Upper Corentyne by 70 runs while Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets trounced Port Mourant Karibee Rice by 50 runs as the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB)/Universal DVD T20 first-division competition continued last weekend.

Playing at Albion, Bermine won the toss and took first strike scoring g 138 for 6. They were led by West Indies U19 selectee, Romario DeJonge-Shepherd who struck 35, Joemal DeJonge (23) and Keon DeJesus (20) not out.

Upper Corentyne right arm medium pacer Kamesh Sugrim picked up 4 for 24 off his four overs.
In reply, Upper Corentyne eventually slumped to 68 for 8 off 20 overs with Nazim Mohamed (26) and Jameel Azad (20) the only players to offer resistance. Bermine’s Julian Moore, Shepherd and Damien Vantull picked up two wickets each.

Over at the Port Mourant ground, the Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets batted first and scored 129 for 7 wickets off their allotted 20 overs. Renrick Batson led the way with a solid 38 and was supported by national all rounder Rajiv Ivan who chipped in with a valuable 35.

Off spinner Samuel Kisnasammy took 4 for 19 off four overs while Manoj Loaknauth who grabbed 2 for 34.

In reply, Port Mourant Karibee Rice fell for 70. Chandrasekar Arjune scored 25 while Joshua Ramsammy made 21.

Dominic Rikhi picked up 3 for 15 while Clinton Pestano supported with two wickets.
